Stop ideas for the day
Ideas only. Opening days change, so check the places you care about before you go.
Tea plantations. Rows of tea over the hills are the classic Cameron view, and several estates have a viewing terrace and cafe, such as BOH Sungei Palas near Brinchang.
Mossy Forest. A boardwalk through cloud forest near Gunung Brinchang, one of the highest points you can reach by road. Access is sometimes closed for maintenance.
Strawberry farms and the Kea Farm market. Pick-your-own farms, flowers, vegetables and snacks around Brinchang and Kea Farm.
Tanah Rata. The main town, a good lunch stop with plenty of restaurants before the drive back down.
With about 4 hours up there on the longest booking, two or three of these is a comfortable day.

How much is a private day trip to Cameron Highlands from Penang?
A day trip is booked as hourly hire with driver, Outside Penang: RM100 per hour for the whole Alphard. The longest single booking, 12 hours, is RM1,200, with tolls and fuel included. The free hours on full-day tours apply within Penang only.
Why is the day trip priced by the hour and not as a transfer?
A transfer is one way: the driver drops you and leaves. Penang to Cameron Highlands one way is RM800 in an Alphard. On a day trip the same car and driver stay with you and bring you back, so it is charged for the hours you book.
How long is the drive?
From Penang it is about 240 km to Cameron Highlands, roughly 3 h 20 min of driving each way without stops. The last part is a winding mountain road, so allow more time and tell the driver if anyone gets car sick.
Is a day trip long enough?
With the longest booking of 12 hours you have about 4 hours in the highlands after the drive both ways and a short break. Start early, around 7 or 8 in the morning, for the most time up there.
What is included?
The vehicle, your driver, tolls and fuel for the hours you book. Entrance fees, tea and farm visits, food and drinks are not included.
Can we choose the stops?
Yes. The stops on this page are ideas only. Put Cameron Highlands as your destination when you book and list the places you want to visit in the Special requests box at checkout.
How many people can come?
The price is per vehicle, not per person. Each Alphard or Vellfire takes up to 5 passengers; for a bigger group, book a second vehicle.
Can I stay overnight and come back another day?
Online bookings start in Penang. You can book the one-way transfer up, but a return pickup from Cameron Highlands cannot be booked online yet, so email us before you travel.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancel 48 hours or more before the trip for a full refund, or 24 to 48 hours before for a 50% refund. Cancellations under 24 hours and no-shows are not refunded.
